CLINICAL APPLICATION ABOUT PHA RYNGOESOPHAGEAL RECONSTRUCTION USING FREE FOREARM FLAP

Abstract
|
|
|
The various reconstructive methods of pharyngoesophageal defect have been reviewed. There were local flap, forearm flap, colon free flap and jejumal free flap. Among them, we used forearm free flap in 8 cases, This paper resulted as follows.
1. The mean age of the patients was 63 years old.
2. All of them were squamous cell carcinoma progressed above stage III, except one case of stage H .
3. The preoperative radiation therapy was performed in the 2 patients and preoperative chemotherapy was performed in 3 patients.
4. Forearm free flaps were used in the form of tubing in 5 cases and patching in 3 cases. 5. The postoperative refractory fistular formation rate was as high as 37 %. 6. The mean admission period was 58 da; s.
considering above results, we recommend that bowel transfer will do good in yonger patients to minimize the risk of fistular formation.
